How does a digital till slip competition work?
The shopper buys the qualifying product, then sends a photo of the till slip. Smartslip.ai checks the retailer, the date, and the products against the campaign rules. A matching slip becomes an entry, or triggers a reward such as airtime or a voucher. The shopper gets a confirmation in the same chat or web flow. The brand keeps a record of every accepted and rejected slip.
The path from the till to the result
- The shopper buys the qualifying product and keeps the till slip.
- They open the promotion. A QR code, an advert, or a WhatsApp number starts the journey. The same rules apply on WhatsApp, a branded page, or Wina Wena.
- They photograph the slip and send it. A clear photo of the whole slip is what the check needs.
- Smartslip.ai reads the store, the date, the products, the quantities, and the spend.
- Those details are compared with the rules for this campaign. Two shoppers with the same basket get the same decision.
- The shopper sees the result in the same chat or page: accepted, rejected, or held so a person can look.
Three results the shopper can get
Accepted means the slip meets the rules. The product, the store, the date, and the spend are all inside what the brand allowed. That slip can go into a draw, trigger an instant reward, or add a stamp or points.
Rejected means a rule was missed. A common case is that the participating product is not on the slip, the date is outside the promotion, or the store does not count. The shopper is told why, so they are not left guessing.
Needs review means a person should look before the entry counts. A faint photo is the usual reason. A slip that may already have been used can be held the same way. An unclear photo is not treated as a pass.
A short example
A shopper buys two participating packs at Checkers on a Saturday inside the campaign dates. They message the WhatsApp number on the shelf card and send a photo of the slip. Smartslip.ai finds the store, the date, and both packs. The slip is accepted and the shopper gets a confirmation that they are in the draw. If the photo had cut off the product lines, the entry would wait for a clearer photo instead of being counted.
What the brand keeps
Every accepted, rejected, and reviewed slip stays on the campaign record, with the photo and the reason. Your team can see the photo next to the details that were read. Rewards that were sent sit on that same record.
