Cross-promotions from the competitor on the till slip

In FMCG, answering a competitor is easier when you can see them in the basket. Till slips show which rival products are bought alongside yours. That is the raw material for a cross-promotion, a price response, or an offer that is actually relevant.

From the slip to the offer

Once you know which rival line keeps appearing, you can design the answer: a bundle, a sharper price, or a reason to switch. Joined to the CRM, the offer can be personal rather than a national blast. What a brand can collect from the entry is set out in what a brand can collect.

WhatsApp is the fast reply

If the analysis shows a competitor’s product riding along with one of yours, WhatsApp can carry the response the same day. A discount, a bundle, or extra loyalty points for choosing your line instead. The shopper still has the basket in mind.

Competitions make the data arrive

A till slip competition is a practical way to collect those baskets. People send the photo on WhatsApp, you see the trend, and you can launch a counter-offer at the people buying the rival product while the campaign is still open. The Engen promotion took the idea further and required both brands on the slip. That story is Pringles, Engen, Coca-Cola and a Jeep.

Offers built from a real basket sell more, and they feel fairer, because they match a shop the person has already done.
